The Minister of Justice of the Italian Republic, H.E. Carlo Nordio, hosted the Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Abdulla Sultan Bin Awad AlNuaimi, in Rome on 23 October 2025.
The two Ministers discussed the strong and growing cooperation between their countries and addressed ways to further enhance collaboration in judicial matters, including extradition, mutual legal assistance, and combating transnational organized crime.
Both Ministers highlighted their countries’ shared commitment to advancing legal and judicial cooperation and strengthening joint efforts to combat organized and financial crimes, including money laundering and the misuse of virtual assets. They noted the key role of tracing, freezing, and confiscating criminal proceeds in dismantling transnational networks and agreed to enhance coordination and the exchange of best practices in asset recovery, financial investigations, and the regulation of virtual assets.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the competent authorities and agreed to hold regular meetings to advance joint initiatives and strengthen institutional cooperation.
They also expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in cultural and academic fields to promote mutual understanding and the exchange of expertise.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue working together to advance justice and reinforce the close and friendly relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Italian Republic.
