His Excellency Mubarak Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, stated that 18 July 1971, the historic date now commemorated annually as Union Pledge Day, is a defining moment for the UAE and a national milestone in the journey towards establishment of the Union.
The occasion commemorates the meeting that brought together the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his fellow Rulers of the Emirates to realise their shared vision of unity and lay the foundations of the Union. That pledge demonstrated the foresight of the leadership, shaped by wisdom and a firm belief in a shared destiny. It marked the beginning of building a modern nation rooted in the values of justice, the rule of law, and prosperity. From that historic moment began a remarkable journey that has seen the United Arab Emirates emerge as a global model of security, stability, and progress.
This glorious national occasion is more than a historical milestone; it serves as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations and a reminder to uphold the values of unity, solidarity, and collective effort. On this occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to our wise leadership and to upholding the legacy of the Founding Fathers. We will continue to serve the nation with dedication and integrity, strengthening the judicial and legislative system that supports the vision of the wise leadership, safeguards the rights of people, reinforces confidence in the rule of law, and preserves the national achievements made possible through the vision and determination of the nation’s Founders.
With pride and appreciation, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates; and the people of the United Arab Emirates. We wish our beloved nation continued stability, security, and prosperity.
May our nation continue to grow stronger, more united, and more prosperous with each passing year.
